Search Rankin County Inmate Records

Rankin County inmate records are centered on the county jail roster, with separate lookup paths for state prisoners, federal custody, immigration detention, and custody notifications. A Rankin County jail roster search can show current county jail entries, while older booking reports and agency records may require a formal records request. People trying to look up Rankin County inmates should treat the roster as the starting point for current jail custody, then use the sheriff's jail information line, MDOC, BOP, ICE, or VINELink when the person is not listed online.

Rankin County Roster Basics

The official current-inmates roster is maintained for the Rankin County Sheriff's Department and covers people in the Rankin County Jail at the time shown on the page. The roster inspected for the research file showed a visible last-updated line, a total inmate count, the jail phone number, filters, sortable table headers, and a note telling readers to confirm booking information with the charging agencies. That warning matters. The jail holds the person, but the arresting or charging agency may control case details, court scheduling, and bond confirmation.

The online roster is for current county custody. It is not a statewide prison search, a federal inmate locator, an immigration detainee locator, or a released-inmate archive. The same jail table can include arrests or holds from Rankin County deputies, Brandon, Pearl, Flowood, Richland, Florence, Reservoir Patrol, Mississippi Highway Patrol, MDOC, and occasional outside agencies. A missing name does not prove release. It means the search should move through the full access chain: roster, jail information phone, Jail Information Officer, public-records request, MDOC, BOP, ICE, and VINELink.

The Rankin County current-inmates roster is the best visual match for the search-field details described below.

Use Rankin County Records

The Adult Detention Center portal gives two entry points: an inmate search card for searching current inmates by name and a current roster card for viewing the full jail list. The older inmate search URL now says search is integrated into the roster page, so the roster is the practical starting point. The roster loads current inmates first, then filters them in the browser as the user types or selects options.

  1. Open the Adult Detention Center portal or the direct current-inmates roster.
  2. Read the Last Updated time and Total Inmates count before relying on the result.
  3. Type a last name, first name, or partial name in the Name field.
  4. Use Severity, Time Period, or Has Bond only when the result list is still broad.
  5. Click the inmate's name, not the ID number, to open the profile modal.
  6. Review the booking number, jail ID, age, physical descriptors, booking date, arrest agency, arrest location, court date if populated, scheduled release if populated, and offenses.
  7. Compare per-offense bond entries with the roster's Total Bond, then confirm with the charging agency or proper court because the roster labels bond amounts as estimates.
  8. If no current match appears, call 601-825-1479, visit the Jail Information Officer, submit a sheriff public-records request for a booking report, or move to MDOC, BOP, ICE, or VINELink depending on custody type.

The Adult Detention Center information portal shows the county's search and roster cards before the user reaches the full inmate table.

That portal view is useful when the direct roster URL changes, because it keeps the county's jail information, roster, and sheriff website cards together.

Rankin Roster Search Fields

Rankin's current roster is more detailed than a simple name list. It combines client-side filters with sortable table headers. The search field is not marked as required because the full current roster loads without a name query. Filters can narrow the list, but they do not create a permanent profile URL. Clicking a name opens a modal built from the roster data source.

Rankin Inmate Profile Fields

A profile opens in a modal rather than a separate page. The table row gives the first layer: row number, name, ID, age, intake time, agency, first charge, and total bond. The modal adds personal information, address status, booking information, arrest information, offenses, and mugshot slots. Agency names may include phone-number tooltips for agencies such as Rankin County Sheriff's Office, Pearl Police Department, Flowood Police Department, Richland Police Department, Brandon Police Department, Reservoir Patrol, and MDOC.

Request Rankin Booking Records

Current roster information is not the only access channel. The Rankin County Sheriff's Department, led by Sheriff Bryan Bailey, uses a public-records form that includes a Booking Report checkbox, along with Incident Report, Accident Report, CAD Report, and Other. A requester must describe the incident or occurrence with specificity. Vague requests can be returned for clarification, so a useful request should include the person's name, approximate arrest or booking date, agency if known, and the type of record being requested.

The sheriff's records policy requires a completed form, a $10 processing fee, a copy of the requester's valid government-issued photo ID, and a self-addressed stamped envelope if the response is mailed. Checks are payable to Rankin County Sheriff's Department. Requests are submitted by hand delivery during normal business hours or by U.S. Mail to Rankin County Sheriff's Department, Attn: Public Records Request Official, 221 N. Timber St., Brandon, MS 39042. Faxed and emailed requests are not accepted. Proper requests are answered within seven working days, or the department gives a written explanation and, absent agreement, produces no later than 14 working days from receipt.

Rankin Booking Intake Records

Rankin County does not publish a full county booking manual, but the roster and public-records policy show what intake produces. After arrest, a person is transported to the Rankin County Detention Center or held for the charging agency, identified in the jail system, assigned a jail ID and booking number, photographed, and listed with age, intake or booking time, arresting agency, and first charge. The modal can add arrest date, arrest location, first court date, scheduled release, offenses, and bond fields.

State prison intake works differently after sentencing. MDOC says a person entering a state institution is searched, issued clothing, photographed for an ID card, fingerprinted, and evaluated by classification, mental health, medical, and education departments. During reception/classification, visits are not allowed, limited phone calls may be possible, and visitation and phone lists are created. MDOC states that classification and permanent housing can take two weeks to 45 days.

Rankin Mail Money Visits

Rankin jail mail and deposit rules are specific. Personal items must be sent by mail to the Rankin County Jail address. Packages are processed and searched for contraband. New inmates can receive one mailed-in package of allowable items within the first seven days of booking; after that, one package is allowed every 90 days. Inmates may receive postcards only. Letters and posts arriving in envelopes are rejected and marked Return to Sender.

The county's personal-items page is the better source for mail and package rules, while the roster remains the better source for current custody status.

The Money for Prisoners service page gives the postal money order, Keefe Commissary, and lobby kiosk directions.

County MDOC Federal ICE

Use the county roster for current county jail custody. Use MDOC when a person has been sentenced to state custody, transferred to Central Mississippi Correctional Facility, placed at Mississippi Correctional Institute for Women, or assigned to a Flowood MDOC community, restitution, or technical-violation facility. Use BOP for federal sentenced inmates and many post-sentence federal custody searches. Use ICE ODLS for immigration detention. VINELink is a notification channel, not a full replacement for the jail roster.
